Carlos Diaz, M.D.

After receiving his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, Carlos Diaz, M.D., accepted an Ocular Pathology and Research Fellowship at L.F. Montgomery Ocular Pathology Lab at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Emory Eye Center is ranked in the top 20 centers in the country for ophthalmology by U.S. News & World Report.

After completing his two-year fellowship at Emory Eye Center, Dr. Diaz moved to Michigan for an internship at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids. He returned to his hometown, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1999 for a residency at Case Western Reserve University. In 2002, Dr. Diaz moved to South Texas, where he practiced for four and a half years before deciding to start his own private ophthalmology practice in Boerne to serve San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country communities.

During his education and training under the tutelage of some of the most highly respected members of the medical community, Dr. Diaz coauthored numerous publications with noted ophthalmologists. He is active in the following organizations:

Diaz Vision Center

Diaz Vision Center has the distinction of being the first ophthalmologic practice in the area to have a full-time surgical ophthalmologist. At our Boerne practice serving Texas Hill Country and San Antonio residents, we use the latest diagnostic equipment, including automated visual field testing for monitoring glaucoma and neurological disease, OCT for retina and optic nerve evaluation, fundus photography, and corneal topography.

Rhonda Mullen-Ullom

Currently, Rhonda serves as Branch Chair for Prevent Blindness Texas and previously served on the boards for the Contact Lens Society of Texas and the Texas Ophthalmic Professional Society. An active educator for the Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology and the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmology, Rhonda teaches at state, regional, and national meetings.
